Central Mass Swarm News

History

The  Central Mass Swarm was founded in 2008 by Dean Packard. The program was taken over by Mike Byrnes in the winter of 2016. The program quickly grew to 20 teams and now has multiple teams at each level for Boys and Girls Grades 3rd-12th, and is now the largest club basketball program in New England. The Swarm now have a large alumni of players playing at prep schools and at the college level all around the New England area.

Our program is in place to serve basketball players all over this area, from teaching them basic skills in 3rd grade to making calls to college coaches for them as high school players. The Swarm has expanded all over the State of Massachusetts and Connecticut; forming the Metro West Swarm, Bay State Swarm, and Connecticut Swarm.

In the winter of 2016, the Swarm opened up their own facility in Webster, MA with "1 Stop Basketball". 1 Stop Basketball is now the official training center for the Central Mass Swarm.

Mission

Our program aims to teach players the game of basketball through fundamental skills. In addition to teaching fundamental skills, we will guide our players to reach their highest potential as an individual player as well as a teammate. Players will understand terms such as respect, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and commitment. In the end, it's our hope that each player will get maximum growth as a player and a person; and additionally, grow to love this great game of basketball.

Why The Swarm?

The Swarm has quickly become one of the few major brands in New England when it comes to club basketball. The Swarm provides players of all ages and abilities, a place to develop, improve, compete, and accomplish goals on and off the court. From "Little Swarm Academy" for boys and girls grades k-2, to our Elite level club teams, we have the best interest of our players.

Our Club teams begin for boys and girls at the 3rd grade level, and go all the way up to 12th grade. We have multiple teams at each grade from Elite teams, to regional teams, to developmental teams.

In and out of the season, we provide individual training, camps, clinics, and skill sessions to all of our players. In the summer during the "Live Period" we put together an Elite team at the 9th, 10th, and Varsity level to play in front of college coaches to be seen and recruited. We also provide our players a free recruiting service where we assist them throughout the entire recruiting process. From emailing and calling college and prep coaches, to taking our kids on school visits, we are there for them at every step of the process. We now have a large alumni playing at colleges and prep schools in and all around the New England area.

Another thing that sets us apart is our level of organization and communication. Families have all practice and tournament schedules up front. Weekly game times and locations are emailed out by our Director the Wednesday evening prior to the weekend event. We understand that our players and families have very busy schedules, and we do our best to make the club basketball season as easy and convenient as possible for all involved.

Lastly, we have our own training facility in Webster, MA. "1 Stop Basketball" is a 1.5 court facility where our players can train, attend clinics, play pick up, or just get shots up. This facility provides a big boost to our player's development.
